Everything you need to know about receiving your whiskey orders

Adult Signature Required

All shipments require an adult signature (21+ years old) at the time of delivery. Someone 21 or older must be present with a valid government-issued photo ID to receive your order.

Shipping Coverage

We currently ship to select states within the United States where legal. Due to varying state and local laws regarding alcohol shipments, we cannot ship to all locations. During checkout, our system will automatically verify if we can ship to your address.

Important: State alcohol shipping laws are subject to change. We recommend checking if we can ship to your location by entering your zip code during checkout or contacting us with any questions.

Shipping Restrictions

We cannot ship to the following:

  • P.O. Boxes or USPS postal facilities
  • International addresses (outside the United States)
  • APO/FPO/DPO military addresses
  • States where direct-to-consumer alcohol shipments are prohibited
  • Addresses where we cannot verify legal compliance

Shipping Carrier

We ship via UPS, a trusted carrier experienced in handling alcohol shipments. UPS provides reliable tracking and ensures secure, temperature-appropriate handling of your bottles.

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on:

  • Package weight and dimensions
  • Shipping destination
  • Service level selected
  • Insurance coverage (all shipments are fully insured)

The exact shipping cost will be displayed before you complete your purchase. We do not inflate shipping costs - you pay only the actual carrier rates plus insurance.

Processing & Delivery Times

Order Processing

Shop Orders: Most orders are processed and shipped within 1-2 business days after payment confirmation.

Auction Wins: Auction items are typically processed and shipped within 2-3 business days after payment is received.

Packaging & Handling

We take great care in packaging your bottles to ensure they arrive safely:

  • Each bottle is individually wrapped with protective bubble wrap or foam
  • Bottles are securely positioned in sturdy shipping boxes
  • Additional cushioning materials fill empty spaces to prevent movement
  • Boxes are clearly marked for fragile handling
  • All shipments are fully insured for their value

Tracking Your Order

Once your order ships, you will receive:

  • Shipping confirmation email with tracking number
  • Real-time tracking updates from UPS
  • Estimated delivery date
  • Delivery notifications when your package is out for delivery

You can track your shipment directly through your Whiskey Source account or by using the tracking number on the UPS website.

Delivery Requirements

Adult Signature Required (21+)

Federal and state laws require an adult signature for all alcohol deliveries. The person receiving the package must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Be present at the delivery address
  • Provide valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.)
  • Sign for the package in person

Missed Deliveries

If no one is available to sign for the delivery:

  • UPS will leave a delivery notice and attempt redelivery
  • You can arrange to pick up the package at a local UPS facility
  • You may be able to schedule a delivery time through UPS My Choice
  • After 3 delivery attempts, packages are returned to us

Note: If a package is returned due to failed delivery attempts, you will be responsible for return shipping costs and may be charged a restocking fee.

Damaged or Lost Shipments

Damaged Packages

If your shipment arrives damaged:

  1. Document the damage with photos (box exterior, interior, and bottle)
  2. Note any damage on the delivery receipt
  3. Contact us immediately at support@whiskeysource.com
  4. Retain all packaging materials for carrier inspection

We will work with you to file an insurance claim and arrange for a replacement or refund.

Lost Packages

If your tracking shows delivery but you didn't receive the package, or if the package appears lost in transit, contact us immediately. We will initiate a carrier investigation and work to resolve the issue promptly.

Weather & Temperature Considerations

We monitor weather conditions and may delay shipments during extreme temperatures to protect your bottles:

  • Extreme Heat: We may hold shipments during heat waves to prevent damage from high temperatures
  • Extreme Cold: Freezing temperatures can affect bottle contents and packaging
  • Severe Weather: Hurricanes, blizzards, and other severe weather may cause carrier delays

If we delay your shipment due to weather, we will notify you via email. Your safety and the integrity of your bottles are our top priorities.

Shipping FAQs

Can I ship to a different address than my billing address?

Yes, you can specify a different shipping address during checkout. However, both addresses must be verifiable and meet our shipping requirements.

Can I have my order shipped to my workplace?

Yes, as long as someone 21+ will be available to provide ID and sign for the delivery during business hours.

Do you offer free shipping?

We occasionally offer free or discounted shipping promotions. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified of special offers.

Can I change my shipping address after placing an order?

If your order hasn't shipped yet, contact us immediately and we'll try to update the address. Once shipped, address changes must be made through UPS directly.

How long will my tracking number take to become active?

Tracking information typically updates within 24 hours of receiving your shipping confirmation email.

Do you ship internationally?

No, we currently only ship within the United States due to international shipping regulations for alcohol.
