Very Very Old Fitzgerald—in this case the rare 15yr example bottled in 1971—was distilled under Pappy's supervision in 1956 and contains 100 percent Stitzel-Weller distillate. Pappy passed away in 1965 which means this barrel was dumped and bottled by his son, Julian II.
While regular Old Fitzgerald, Weller Special Reserve and other brands were the bulk of production for Stitzel Weller, Very Old Fitzgerald was considered their premium line from the late-1940s through the early-1980s.
