Old Fitzgerald’s ‘1849’ 8 Year Bourbon, released in 1989, channels the rich legacy of one of Kentucky’s most storied bourbon names. The “1849” in its title honors the year the brand was originally established, nodding to a lineage that has witnessed many shifts in American whiskey history. Bottled at 90 proof and aged for eight years, this vintage release comes from a period when Old Fitzgerald was produced at the historic Stitzel-Weller distillery, renowned for its unique wheated bourbon mash bill. The bottle’s distinctive shape, gold accents, and classic black label evoke the elegance of late-1980s whiskey packaging. Collectors prize this expression for its connection to a golden era of bourbon, before the distillery’s closure and the subsequent resurgence of interest in vintage Kentucky spirits. This bottle stands as a bridge between bourbon’s heritage and its revival among modern enthusiasts.
