This private barrel selection from “StraightBourbon” is one of only three known Pappy Van Winkle 23-year barrel picks ever bottled, all of which were selected in 2007.

Selected by a prominent bourbon forum at the time, this bottle differs from standard Pappy 23 as it does not begin with a typical letter prefix. Instead, it features a unique “SB2” prefix to represent the StraightBourbon group responsible for its selection. (Three different barrel prefixes were used: KBS, SB1, and SB2.)

In addition to its rarity as one of just three private barrel Pappy 23 releases, this selection also stands out as the oldest age-stated single barrel picks ever released under the Van Winkle label. They are non-chill filtered (NCF) and confirmed on the pick sticker with “DSP-KY-16” (Stitzel-Weller). While the proof is only 95.6, this is one of the few known examples of NCF Stitzel-Weller aged over 23 years.
