George T. Stagg is a cornerstone of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, named for one of Kentucky’s early bourbon pioneers. The 2016 release stands out for its remarkable 144.1 proof, making it one of the highest in the series. Bottled uncut and unfiltered, it reflects the distillery’s approach to preserving the bold character developed during long years in oak. Collectors seek out George T. Stagg releases for their rarity and the annual anticipation surrounding each fall allocation. The 2016 bottling has quickly become a favorite among enthusiasts, symbolizing the enduring legacy of Buffalo Trace’s historic rickhouses. The iconic antlered stag on the bottle pays homage to its namesake, while the minimalist design lets the reputation of this sought-after bourbon speak for itself. This release is a true highlight in the timeline of modern collectible American whiskey.
